OC14 Groza

The OC-14 "Groza" is a compact and versatile bullpup assault rifle developed in Russia during the mid-1990s. Its design reflects a need for a highly modular and portable firearm that could excel in urban and close-quarters combat scenarios. The weapon’s name, "Groza," translates to "Thunderstorm," symbolizing its power and effectiveness in the field.
The rifle’s bullpup configuration places the magazine and action behind the trigger, reducing overall length while maintaining barrel length for effective accuracy. This design allows the Groza to be compact enough for use in confined spaces, such as buildings or vehicles, without sacrificing firepower or range. It is chambered for either the 7.62×39mm or 9×39mm cartridges, offering flexibility depending on mission requirements. The 9×39mm variant, optimized for subsonic ammunition, is particularly effective for suppressed operations, making it a favorite among special forces.
The Groza features a modular design that enables it to be quickly reconfigured. A unique feature is its ability to attach an integrated suppressor or under-barrel grenade launcher, such as the GP-25 or GP-30, enhancing its tactical versatility. The rifle includes a Picatinny rail for mounting various optics, further increasing its adaptability for different operational needs.
Its controls are designed for ambidextrous use, with a side-mounted charging handle and a selector switch accessible to both right- and left-handed shooters. The rifle’s simple and rugged construction ensures reliability under adverse conditions, a hallmark of Russian small arms design.
The OC-14 has seen limited deployment, primarily with Russian special forces and law enforcement units. Its compact size, firepower, and adaptability make it an effective weapon for specialized missions, particularly those requiring stealth and precision in close quarters. The Groza remains an iconic example of innovative firearm engineering tailored to modern combat needs.
