Yandex station

In an age where Google and Apple both offer their own smart assistants, Yandex has taken the initiative with its own device.

The Yandex Station is a wireless speaker that houses Alice, the company's AI voice assistant. Alice can do everything from set alarms to play music.

Yandex Plus subscribers enjoy full access to its features, such as streaming music and podcasts, plus personalized recommendations based on your listening habits.

The sound quality of the Yandex station fell below average in our tests. It sounded muffled in the treble and lacked bass precision and attack. On the plus side, it did receive high marks for volume consistency, good maximum volume and good distance performance when listening to podcasts.

The speakers on the Yandex station are located on one side, facing outward. This arrangement had an impact on directivity and wideness - both below average. Furthermore, there was no punch when listening at nominal volume (in our party use case), which can be an issue when listening to quiet background music or podcasts at moderate volumes.

Additionally, the speakers failed to reproduce bass clearly across a broad frequency range, with an exception when playing heavy bass instruments. This is especially evident during parties when there's lots of movement in the room.
