Type 625E AA Gun Missile System (PBR)

The Type 625E is a Chinese short-range air defense (SHORAD) system that integrates both missile and gun capabilities to counter various aerial threats, including drones, helicopters, and low-flying aircraft. Developed by China South Industries Group Corporation (CSGC) and Norinco, it was unveiled at the 2022 Zhuhai Air Show.
Mounted on an 8×8 high-mobility wheeled chassis, the Type 625E features a six-barrel 25mm Gatling gun with an effective range of up to 2.5 kilometers and an altitude ceiling of 2 kilometers. This rapid-fire gun is capable of engaging multiple targets, including cruise missiles and loitering munitions.
Complementing the gun are eight surface-to-air missiles, typically the FB-10A, which have a maximum range of 10 kilometers and can engage targets at altitudes ranging from 15 to 5,000 meters. These missiles utilize a composite guidance system combining radar and infrared imaging, providing strong anti-interference capabilities and the ability to engage multiple targets simultaneously.
The system is equipped with advanced targeting and detection technologies, including a search radar, tracking radar, and optoelectronic tracking system. These components allow the Type 625E to detect and track low-flying threats effectively, even while on the move. The fire control system continuously calculates target trajectories to ensure accurate engagement.
Designed to enhance China's layered air defense strategy, the Type 625E offers a mobile and versatile solution for protecting troops and critical assets from a variety of aerial threats.
