Here is a hand-built 3d model of a mechanical scout spider (and at the same time, a "psycho-capture-genomutator"), created by the author in exactly one day. This work was inspired by the classic Red Alert strategy. According to the author, the Russians had this kind of spider-shaped killing machine, except that its design was simpler and unpretentious.
