How to start making games without experience?

Got the idea to make a game, but don't know where to start? Follow these simple tips and you'll be able to create a title without any experience in game development.
Build up your enthusiasm
Your morale is the fuel you burn in game development. The more of it you have, the better. You can replenish your fuel with development tutorial videos. This can really motivate you a lot.
Get a team (or do everything by yourself)
It's easier to develop a project by yourself. It's easier to come up with an idea and make decisions. You won't have to argue with your teammates and agree on decisions. And most importantly, make the game yourself, contrary to misconceptions, it is possible. Even the first one. But sooner or later if you want to make your way to the top of game development, you have to find like-minded people. With a team the quality level will be higher and the results will be better.
Do what you love to do
Work with what you really love. Think of your favorite fictional universes, then pick up aspects of them and implement them in your game.
Choose a platform
When developing a video game, you have three choices. You can make titles for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, or for PC or game consoles. Based on your goals, you will need to choose one or the other. These are different platforms, with different games, audiences and levels of monetization.
Pick an engine and research it
The engine is, if I may say so, the skeleton. You'll be building up the meat on it as you develop the game. On the engine you will code, build levels, create lighting, customize animations, make sounds/music, etc. We recommend reading the article about the best game engines for beginners.
Following these tips will help you get over your development fears and start making the game of your dreams. It's really not as hard as it seems
- you just have to try. In our catalog you can find various assets for Unity and Unreal Engine that will help you to make your first steps in game development. Also don't forget to visit our section with free PBR textures to fill your 3D games with realistic materials.
