Traveler Outdoor Sofa by Roche Bobois

French luxury furniture brand Roche Bobois is renowned for creating iconic pieces with timeless appeal. To commemorate its 50th anniversary of Mah Jong, the brand is adding modern improvements to one of its popular sofas: slightly recessed legs from the top and a back structure inspired by aircraft wings that provide structure and support.

American designer Stephen Burks' latest modular piece, designed by Traveler Outdoor Sofa by Roche Bobois, features three colour combinations of cords: vibrant (coral, red and yellow), serene (grey, white and cobalt blue) and natural (ropelike cord in mouse grey, beige and brick). It's an updated take on traditional design that feels both contemporary and timeless at once.

Functionality is also key. Table tops can be integrated into the modular piece to provide a surface for books, lamps, cups or decorative objects.

Fashion designers are offering new upholstery made of eco-friendly fabrics in accordance with Roche Bobois Eco 8 standard.

In addition to the revamped Traveler, Missoni Home has also updated their iconic Bubble sofa for spring-summer 2019. This design consists of three basic elements that can be stacked together to form various configurations and is upholstered with fabrics designed by fashion icons like Kenzo Takada, Jean Paul Gaultier and Missoni Home as well as other renowned designers.

This season's collection draws inspiration from the 1970s - a decade renowned for its curvy shapes and plush dimensions. Though it differs significantly from that era's austerity, there's a nod to it in this season's designs.
