XM8 Compact (PBR)

The XM8 is a rifle developed by HK and the United States military back in the 1990s that became iconic in video games and pop culture during the 2000s. Intended to replace the M4 carbine, this rifle proved successful during dust and reliability tests during development.
The XM8 weapon system featured four variants: The Baseline Carbine, Sharpshooter and Ultra-Small Compact Rifle. Each weapon could be reconfigured from one of these variants according to changing mission requirements, including caliber conversions and under-barrel grenade launchers.
Modular design allowed for the exchange of interchangeable assembly groups such as barrel, handguard, lower receiver, buttstock modules and sighting system with removable carrying handle. Furthermore, it supported the addition of the XM320 quick detachable single shot 40mm grenade launcher with side opening breech and XM26 Modular Lightweight Shotgun System (MASS) lightweight 12-gauge shotgun module.
The XM8 boasts fully ambidextrous operating controls, such as the centrally located charging handle, magazine release, bolt catch and safety/selector lever with semi and full automatic modes of fire. Its unique buttstock system allowed operators to choose between collapsible multi-position version for portability or adjustable folding or sniper buttstock with cheekpiece for special applications. Furthermore, the integrated reflex optic with IR pointer and illuminator was included - factory zeroed on each weapon so no constant rezeroing like existing rail mounted targeting devices need for accuracy when delivered!
