BR55 (PBR)

The BR55, commonly referred to in the UNSC as the Battle Rifle, was an infantry rifle used throughout much of the Human-Covenant War. It lacked the fire rate of MA5 or MA5B Assault Rifles but boasted high muzzle energy due to its cartridge being 9.5x40mm M634 Experimental High-Powered Semi-Armor Piercing which generated heavy recoil when fired.

However, the BR55 was still highly effective in combat if used properly and its user had good aim and accuracy. With its telescopic sight, it could deliver three-round bursts of fire at medium ranges, making it a suitable weapon for sniper work in multiplayer settings.

This select-fire rifle had three firing modes, automatic, semiautomatic, and burst. For improved accuracy, a rate reducer was included to further improve accuracy. The three-round burst mode proved most popular among users as it provided the optimal balance of firing rate and recoil control.
