CAR-15 Assault-Rifle

The CAR-15 Assault Rifle is a semiautomatic rifle inspired by the Armalite Rifle. Using polymer and aluminum materials, it set off an innovative trend which continues to influence modern rifle design today.
CAR-15 was initially applied to a family of weapons designed around the M16 rifle, and later extended to encompass an even wider selection of selective-fire guns. In 1965, Colt created the M16 as a modular system that could be configured into assault rifles, carbines, submachine guns, open bolt squad automatic weapons and survival rifles.
It was designed to fire a powerful, kinetic energy-producing round that destroyed inelastic tissue in the body. Furthermore, its high rate of fire and low recoil made it easy to maneuver around obstacles.
The CAR-15 featured a long barrel, forward assist and case deflector. They came in various calibers such as.223/5.56.
This type of carbine was adopted by the United States Air Force and remains in service with specialized ground units such as USAF Combat Control Team. It featured a 10.5-inch barrel, early-round handguards and both semi- and full-automatic fire modes.
Commonly referred to as an M16 Carbine, but this designation isn't one used by the military. While some civilian and law enforcement variants have been sold under that name, these weapons typically cannot switch from semi-automatic to full auto mode.
