Akai 4000 (PBR)

The Akai 4000 is a classic single motor, reel to reel tape recorder. It utilizes an efficient induction motor and boldly designed flywheel for stable tape travel with reduced wow or flutter. Plus, three Akai one micron gap heads provide superior recording and playback quality.
Teac and Sony decks may experience sticky goo problems with some of their long-lasting rubber components, but this still makes investing in maintenance for the pinch rollers and belts a wise idea.
Aside from this, the four MIDI ins and outs enable it to function as a multi-track sequencer or control external modules. The pads can be used for triggering samples as well as tweaking pitch bend, portamento, and reverb effects.
The 4000DS does not come with a floppy disk drive, but it runs on four AA batteries (not included). Alternatively, an AC adapter can be used if desired for additional power.
This machine is an ideal starting point for those interested in open spool tape recording, not only due to its reasonable price but also the quality and flexibility of features it provides. It should find a place in most home studio setups.
This machine's only downsides are its slow tape speed selection and poor frequency response around 7Khz, which will be noticeable when using low noise, high quality tapes. However, these issues are easily remedied by taking off the head cover for cleaning and demagnetizing.
3d-model is executed in detail and quality. PBR-textures included.
