BRDM-2 (PBR)
The BRDM-2 (Boyevaya Razvedyvatelnaya Dozornaya Mashina) is a Soviet amphibious armored scout car that was widely used by the Soviet military and various other countries. Designed in the 1960s as a successor to the BRDM-1, the BRDM-2 is known for its versatility in reconnaissance, patrol, and combat missions across various terrains.
The exterior of the BRDM-2 is characterized by its boxy, utilitarian design, which is optimized for durability and function. The vehicle's hull is made from steel armor, providing protection against small arms fire and shell splinters. The sloped front offers additional protection and helps deflect incoming projectiles. A distinct feature of the BRDM-2 is its raised wheel arches and unique four-wheel-drive system, which includes an additional set of retractable wheels for improved off-road mobility.
The vehicle is equipped with a turret mounted on the roof, housing a 14.5mm KPVT heavy machine gun, supported by a 7.62mm PKT coaxial machine gun. These weapons provide the BRDM-2 with significant firepower for both offensive and defensive purposes. The turret has a full 360-degree rotation, allowing the crew to engage targets in any direction.
The BRDM-2 is amphibious, meaning it can operate in water without prior preparation. A water jet located at the rear of the vehicle allows it to move through water at moderate speeds, giving it a high level of versatility in different environments. The vehicle is also equipped with a central tire inflation system, which helps adapt to various terrains by adjusting tire pressure.
The interior of the BRDM-2 is cramped but functional, with space for a crew of four: a driver, commander, gunner, and radio operator. The vehicle's controls are relatively simple, designed to be operated in challenging conditions. The driver has access to a set of vision blocks for improved visibility, while periscopes provide the crew with a wider field of view.
The BRDM-2 is powered by a GAZ-41 V8 gasoline engine, which delivers a maximum speed of about 100 km/h (62 mph) on roads and a range of 750 km (466 miles). The engine is mounted at the rear of the vehicle, contributing to the overall compact design.
The 3D model captures all these features with precision. From the sloped armor and turret to the additional wheels and amphibious water jet, every detail is faithfully represented. This model is perfect for use in military simulations, educational purposes, or as a detailed asset in video games and other digital environments, offering an authentic representation of this versatile reconnaissance vehicle.
