UAZ 469 1970

The UAZ 469 1970 is one of the longest-lived four-wheeled legacy products to come out of Soviet Russia. This cabover off-roader hasn't changed much since its introduction in 1972, and remains a popular vehicle on the Russian market today.
The UAZ 469 1970 has remained a favorite for decades due to its exceptional off-road capabilities. It's widely considered the best off-roader in its class, and many drivers have tested its endurance by participating in challenging desert races over time.
It was constructed from the GAZ-69 (or UAZ 452) truck and modified for specific purposes. These included a fire engine, police car, street sweeper and crane. Furthermore, the cabover itself was equipped with an anti-tank rocket gun while a special version designed for the post office featured two windows on each side.
Despite all these variations, the UAZ 469 1970 has proven to be a reliable workhorse. As such, it remains popular on the Russian market today and can be acquired for very reasonable prices.
These low-mileage ex-Army vehicles can often be purchased for EUR750 and beyond. While not the most luxurious cars on the road, these used UAZ 469s offer much lower costs than new models and require much less tinkering to make repairs and improvements.
As far as I can tell, the UAZ plant staff didn't deem it worthwhile to invest in a redesign. While the UAZ 469 1970 is an impressive workhorse, it did need some refinements by the late '70s.
