North Carolina Battleship

The USS North Carolina (BB-55) was the lead ship of the North Carolina class of battleships and the first of the new generation of American battleships constructed under the limitations of the Washington Naval Treaty. Commissioned in 1941, the North Carolina played a significant role in the Pacific Theater during World War II, marking the transition from the battleship era to a naval strategy centered around aircraft carriers.
