Is Genesis 9 actually... bad?

It's no secret to any of the community fans of posing and 3D content creation that Genesis 9 came out pretty questionable.
At least it's not as popular as Genesis 8 or even Genesis 8.1.
There was noticeably less content made for it, and it also has a lot of problems. For example, with his eyes.
But is Genesis 9 really bad? Let's get to the bottom of it.
Is Genesis 9 a failure?
Well, not really.
Genesis 9 is definitely not a failure. As of this writing (first quarter of 2024), there's a lot of content being made for Genesis 9. A lot of content. But you can also download bundles, characters], creators, hair, accessories, poses, additions and much more for DAZ 3D.
All of this is completely free and without registration here and here.
We think that the developers hurried with the release of the Genesis 9. Especially considering how long it took some people to switch to Genesis 8.1.
This is largely the reason why it seems that 9 is worse than 8. People just aren't used to it yet. Many people will stay on previous generations until the radical switch to Genesis 9 is made and the past is leveled and forgotten.
As for the purpose of Genesis 9, it was obviously created primarily for professional content makers. So far, they haven't done enough things yet - which may also give the impression that the updated version isn't popular enough.
That's something we've dealt with. But what about the problems?
Well, they're just there. For example, let's take the pre-lit eyes. In Genesis 9, they decided to make them asymmetrical. Very often, you have to use morphs to direct them correctly. It's inconvenient, but you can still live with it. Well, or use crutches like removing restrictions on rotation parameters so that your eyes don't get stuck and your character doesn't look like he's been running away from some homicidal maniac for the last few hours.
The second problem is deeply buried in the fact that the developers simply rushed the game. Genesis 9 was a kind of allusion and adaptation for
MetaHuman. They needed to release it quickly. Yes, they did, except they made a lot of idiotic decisions in the process. For example, they changed the names of the bones in the skeleton for some reason, which confused countless users.
More to come.
The most serious problem with Genesis 9 is that the characters suffer from the sub par body attention. They look good if you do close-ups, but if you zoom in on the model, it's a massive downgrade from previous versions. Yes, this applies to female characters. Male characters are a bit better, but statistics show that the vast majority of characters created in Daz are female.
Nuff said.
So what's the bottom line?
The bottom line is what we said at the very beginning of this article. Genesis 9, despite all its problems, is absolutely not a failure. Bugs and bugs are being fixed, and developers are listening to the community. Maybe not as well as we'd like, but they're still doing it.
We think that people just need more time to get used to it. And more time to wait for all the problems to be fixed.
Good luck!
