Bugatti Amalia Chair

Carlo Bugatti was an Italian designer born to Ettore and Rembrandt at the turn of the 20th century. Throughout this time period, he created many works of art but is best known for his furniture designs.
He is widely credited as being the first Italian designer to conceptualize rather than simply design modern furniture, and this chair was part of his early research. Its sculptural quality is enhanced by its symmetrical form inspired by Japanese and Asian influence.
Carlo Bugatti created artwork using various materials such as wood, silver and pewter. He also had the unique ability to incorporate his own artistic vision and style into each piece.
This rare asymmetric chair is an example of the work of the renowned designer from Milan around 1880. Crafted with walnut veneer, copper applications, and pewter inlay, the piece also features hand painted vellum and silk tassels for decoration.
Bugatti, whose family name is synonymous with hypercars, has joined forces with Luxury Living Group to launch their home collection at Salone del Mobile 2019. Designed by Carlo Bugatti - whose father founded the company and inspired his son Ettore - this furniture line pays homage to their iconic brand.
This unique Bugatti chair, fully restored to its original aesthetic, is one of only eight built with the three-seat body style and clothed by esteemed Belgian coachbuilder D'Ieteren.
