Cotoneaster lucidus # 6 wide rectangular hedge
Cotoneaster lucidus is a low-maintenance shrub with an informal, full rounded shape, which grows in USDA plant hardiness zones 2-6. Its dense growth makes it perfect for creating formal hedges or allowing it to naturally form into an arch shape.
It boasts small, greenish-yellow leaves that turn stunning shades of red in fall, and it is highly resistant to wind, cold, and alkaline soils. Its dark green foliage stands out against other colors in the garden while softening any landscape edges.
This hedging variety is easy to prune and shape into geometric shapes, making it a versatile hedge or screen plant for any size garden. In spring, it produces small clusters of pink flowers which mature into dark purple to black berries that persist through winter.
In addition to being an attractive hedging choice, cotoneasters are highly valued by bees and birds for their nectar sources, particularly during late summer when there is little else available for foraging.
Autumn Inferno (r)
Another new Cotoneaster lucidus for Landscape is 'Autumn Inferno'. A cross between 'Peking' and 'Cranberry, this cultivar offers great form, ease of pruning, clean foliage all season long, as well as vibrant fall color.
