GameBoy Color (PBR)

The GameBoy Color is the fourth revision of Nintendo's beloved handheld video game console, released initially in Japan on October 21, 1998 and then spread internationally the following November. Compared to its predecessor, this model is lighter, faster, and more versatile - plus it can display colors that weren't possible with the earlier model.
The Game Boy Color's color screen was added so players could access games originally released for the standard black-and-white Game Boy. Its processor, a hybrid between Intel 8080 and Zilog Z80, is twice as fast as its original counterpart and boasts four times more memory.
In contrast to earlier Game Boy models, which could only display monochromatic colors, the Game Boy Color allowed users to display up to 56 distinct hues simultaneously. Furthermore, its palette-change feature enabled gamers to alter the basic color palette for each game they played.
A remarkable feature of the Game Boy Color is its ability to use specialized palettes for each sprite or background on screen, so a sprite with a green background could appear blue in one game and purple in another. This was an invaluable asset to developers who had to adapt their games for use on the Color.
Nintendo's Game Boy Color was a successful addition, though its library of games wasn't as extensive as that of its predecessors - either the original Game Boy or Game Boy Pocket. Nevertheless, it had great backward compatibility with original Game Boy games and boasted some high-profile first party titles.
