MH 6 Little Bird marines US Army (PBR)

The MH 6 Little Bird helicopter of the US Army, also known as 'Night Stalkers,' is one of the world's most widely employed special operations rotorcraft. Initially designed for light reconnaissance missions, both models - AH-6 (also referred to as 'Little Bird') and its attack variant, MH-6--can now be employed in direct action raids and assaults.
A MH-6 helicopter can quickly land on streets and rooftops, deploy a fast rope system to get its operators onto the ground, and insert them into tight spaces with little risk to their lives. At present, two versions of this aircraft exist: an attack version equipped with M134 7.62-millimeter miniguns and folding fin aerial rockets; and a transport/utility variant which can carry up to six commandos.
Pilots have made numerous modifications to the aircraft, such as switching from four-bladed rotors to five or six bladed ones and decreasing its weight. Furthermore, they upgraded the sensor package and tactical radio systems on board and continue doing so today.
The Little Bird is a compact rotorcraft with an expansive glass cockpit that's night vision compatible. It makes an excellent combat weapon due to its agility and precision.
Strike Source recently spoke with Gregory Coker, an AH-6 Little Bird pilot for the U.S Army who has flown over 1500 hours in this mini helo, about his combat experience and passion for flying the Little Bird.
The Army is developing a replacement helicopter for the Little Bird, but it won't be ready until 2034. No new aircraft can match the speed, maneuverability and flexibility of an older aircraft like the Little Bird can offer.
