Hudson Hornet (PBR)

The Hudson Hornet is an iconic muscle car from post-World War II that often goes overlooked. Constructed by Hudson Motor Company in the early 1950s, it became a legend thanks to its race winning capabilities and high compression straight six engine.
With its low center of gravity and battleship construction, this car quickly became the go-to choice for stock car racing in the early 1950s. In fact, it was even the first NASCAR race car to receive factory sponsorship - making it one of the most iconic racers ever produced. A great option for everyday driving!
The Hornet was a popular sedan during the 1950s, boasting its unique step-down chassis which provided lower floorboard and reduced center of gravity. This helped it handle better than its competition - especially at higher speeds where power steering wasn't available.
Doc Hudson, one of the main characters in the 2006 animated movie Cars, was inspired by a dark blue 1951 Hornet owned by Dave Bonbright who collaborated with Pixar on the project. Additionally, Jay Leno's Garage recently documented this iconic vehicle's history through Jay Leno's Garage video documentary series.
In 1952, Herb Thomas won fifteen races in his Hornet and went on to win the 1953 season championship with it. He continued driving Hornets throughout the following years and earned several victories in premier series races. Tim Flock (2014) was another well-known driver who took several Hornet races during the early 1950s.
